Corseener inductive proximity switches detect metal targets without physical contact, using an oscillating electromagnetic field that's damped when a metal object enters the sensing zone. Available in threaded cylindrical bodies from Ø6.5mm up to M30, plus ring (through-hole) and square styles, in DC 3-wire and 4-wire configurations, standard and wide-temperature (-40°C to +85°C) variants — for reliable, maintenance-free position and presence detection on automated machinery.
An inductive proximity switch generates a high-frequency electromagnetic field from an oscillator circuit at its sensing face. When a metal target enters this field, it induces eddy currents in the target's surface — this draws energy from the oscillator, damping (reducing) the field's amplitude. A trigger circuit detects this amplitude change and flips the switch's output. Because the entire mechanism is solid-state with no moving parts and no physical contact required, inductive switches are inherently more reliable and longer-lived than mechanical limit switches for high-cycle applications.
One detail worth knowing before you specify a model: the rated sensing distance is defined against a standard target of mild steel (Fe360), sized as a square with side length equal to the sensing distance (or a circle of 3× the sensing distance, whichever is larger). Other metals reduce the effective range — a correction factor applies (aluminium and brass typically achieve only 35–50% of the rated distance against steel, while stainless steel achieves 60–100%). Share your actual target material with us so we size the sensor correctly rather than by the rated steel figure alone.

Configuration Options
Can be mounted flush with surrounding metal without affecting sensing distance — ideal for tight installations.
Needs clearance around the sensing face but achieves a longer sensing distance than an equivalent shielded model.
Single output (N.O. or N.C.), PNP or NPN — the most common configuration for PLC digital inputs.
Combined N.O. + N.C. outputs from one sensor, useful where both states need to be monitored.
-40°C to +85°C rated versions for outdoor, cold-storage or high-ambient-heat installations.
Pre-wired PVC cable (2m standard) or M12 connector for quick field replacement.

FAQs
No — inductive proximity switches only detect metal targets. For non-metallic targets, a capacitive proximity switch or photoelectric switch is the right choice.
A shielded (flush-mount) sensor can be embedded flush with surrounding metal without interference, but has a shorter sensing distance. An unshielded (non-flush) sensor needs clearance around it but senses further — choose based on your mounting constraint.
Yes — the rated sensing distance is defined against mild steel. Aluminium, brass and copper typically reduce the effective range to 35–50% of the rated value, while stainless steel achieves 60–100%. Share your actual target material so we can size the sensor correctly.
