IJ Instruments is the authorized distributor for Burak Metering Pvt. Ltd. in Tamil Nadu — supplying their complete range of thermal mass flow meters for compressed air, nitrogen, natural gas, biogas and all industrial gases. Direct mass flow measurement. No pressure or temperature correction needed.
A thermal mass flow meter measures the mass flow rate of gases directly — without needing any separate pressure or temperature correction. It works on the principle of convective heat transfer: when gas flows past a heated sensor element, it carries heat away. The faster the gas flows, the more heat is removed.
This makes thermal mass flow meters the ideal technology for compressed air measurement, nitrogen monitoring, natural gas flow measurement and any application where accurate gas mass flow — in Nm³/h, SCFM, kg/h or other mass units — is needed without complex compensation calculations.
Unlike differential pressure or vortex meters, thermal mass flow meters have no moving parts, very low pressure drop, and can accurately measure very low flow rates — making them suitable for leak detection and low-load monitoring in compressed air systems.
A heated sensor (mass flow sensor) and a reference temperature sensor are both positioned in the gas flow path.
As gas flows past the heated sensor, it carries heat away — proportional to the mass flow rate and velocity of the gas.
The electronics measure the temperature difference between the heated and reference sensors — directly proportional to mass flow.
Flow rate is displayed and output as 4–20mA, pulse, HART or Modbus — in Nm³/h, m³/h, SCFM, kg/h as per requirement.
